Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-2000 Driver
Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-2000 Driver – Canon has delivered on its promise with a series of four roll paper printers, including the new imagePROGRAF PRO-2000, which is the subject of this review. As I have learned, anyone working or working with a PRO-1000 and upgrading to a PRO-2000 should feel right at home.
The PRO-1000 didn’t have a roll paper adapter, and while that doesn’t stop me from making the most of what it has to offer, it might give pause for those looking to make large prints or those looking for higher personalized prints for a portrait. commercial and artistic research, for example, professional photographers (and their supporting laboratories) who want control.
Properties
Priced at $ 2,995, this 24 “printer is aimed at professionals and professionals, and especially a select group of enthusiasts who want to make large prints with high-definition Canon EOS and other digital cameras. … In fact, the PRO-2000 combines Canon’s DLO (Digital Lens Optimizer) technology with the new printer’s “Contrast Generation” preset, a Canon concept that Canon calls “crystal fidelity,” combining its cameras and printers to enhance image quality. far behind on this. entirely. The PRO-2000 uses the same ink set as the PRO-1000, and I refer interested readers to my review of the PRO-1000 for a description of the general 11-color (and gloss optimizer) Lucia Pro inks.
The PRO-2000 is equipped with a new larger 1.28 ”print head, which means a large format model with only one head instead of two as usual. Having a single print head allowed Canon to make this device “smaller” than expected on the 24-inch model; An additional advantage is that the printing efficiency is higher than when working with two heads. According to Canon, there are 18,432 fixed nozzles in the head; this allows any clogging compensation to be performed and has an “automatic compensation” feature that redirects ink to surrounding nozzles as needed. Thermal inkjet printer head with fixed nozzle sizes and temperature control (as opposed to Epson’s electric nozzle controller, which uses an electrical charge to “ignite” the nozzle in a piezoelectric setup; check the network for bloody details and current discussion).
Multisensor assists with printer calibration for Canon and third-party papers. One of the advantages is that when you calibrate Canon paper, some others will also be calibrated because of the units of measurement, such as the “vacuum” setting (print flatness), the deviation between Pro Gloss and Fine Art Matte, head height, and critical profile.
If you’re using Canon and Color-Managed Color papers, you don’t need to worry about sizing and profiling; of course, always check for updates. You can download ICC profiles from “third-party” documents, as Canon sent these paper products for testing months before the PRO-2000 was released, and today many leading brands post these documents on their websites. The media customization tool also allows you to download a so-called AM1 profile (you might have to dig deeper and make some additional links on third-party paper sites) that sets the head height, vacuum power, and host. Other settings for Canon and third-party brand paper. These AM1 profiles are already installed in the Canon Printer Managed workflow.
Regarding the structure of the PRO-2000, Canon Senior Product Planning Manager Brian Coombs, who helped me with the specifications and paper roll loading, said the printer has a uniform rigid frame to reduce vibration during printing. and provides easy media feed.
Optional for PRO-2000 (add $ 800 to price) and standard multifunctional roller system for 60 “models; This means that users can load one roll with a glossy finish and another with a matte finish with a different surface. status. As with the PRO-1000, there is no need to change ink when moving from one surface to another, and I was surprised at how quickly the device held the switch down while printing. Another advantage is that the second of the rolls can act as a bi-directional winding unit for long continuous print runs; In other words, you can wrap your printed images on a long take-up roll that some printers do. find it profitable. Otherwise, the printer will neatly trim each print and slowly drop it into the catcher as you work.
The PRO-2000 has three onboard processors and 3GB of RAM that offloads most of the image processing from the host to the printer. In my tests, the output was very fast and almost instant when I clicked the Print button.
There is a redesigned 3.5-inch color LCD touch panel, direct USB drive input, flash drive input for JPEG and PDF files, and mobile wireless LAN capability. Finally, Canon Print Studio Pro software acts as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, Elements, and Lightroom and Canon Digital Photo Professional software (for simple adjustments that shouldn’t be difficult for people of modest experience). For those looking to accurately estimate their prints, a built-in accounting manager keeps track of consumable costs. Speaking of ink, 11 inks (and the Chroma Optimizer) come in 160ml, 330ml, and 700ml tanks for power users, priced at $ 97, $ 173, and $ 294 respectively. Chroma Optimizer is priced at $ 94, $ 166, and $ 283, respectively.
Test
I decided to do a real pressure test at Canon headquarters in Melville, Long Island to have the technology on hand for my requests, and I didn’t want to drag it up and down the stairs to my studio as the device itself was already out. 200 lbs. before and after testing when returning the unit. I chose graphics as well as monochrome and color images. I printed it out using my usual workflow, both Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and chose images ranging from full-size monochrome to rich Adobe RGB color graphics.
I installed the printer driver on my MacBook Pro and it was enough to ship one roll of Canon, Pro Premium Matte, and Premium Semi-Glossy paper each. Even those who have used roll paper (and have not used it) will find it quite easy to load: you use the core and rollers, guide the paper into the take-up slot, and start winding. The profiles have already been downloaded to the printer. This meant that I could easily switch between the two surfaces. I did this to test the “transition” time and it was kept to a minimum, thanks in part to the lack of spillage between matte and black photo inks. In addition, Canon’s “cross-calibration” of surfaces described above has the advantage of automatically adjusting the head height for vacuum and ink delivery.
While the size of the printer may seem a little intimidating at first glance, the experience was similar to that of a desktop device, but with many different nuances and controls. Interactive LCD display, calibration process (using the software in the device) and profiles, etc. It can be used to switch to third-party media, assuming preprocessing; Once stored, they can be easily retrieved and even shared in a store, for example between multiple printers. See images and captions for more comments and results.
Result
I believe the printer should act like a toaster – it should follow your instructions and shouldn’t get in your way when you start typing. But while the toaster wants to know if you want the bagel to be lightly browned or crispy, this printer needs to prepare before pressing the Print button. Obviously, the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-2000 is not intended or recommended for general users, even those who don’t blink on the price tag. To get the most out of this and more, you must be ready to dive into the world of sizing, profiles, and prepare for whatever task you might want to complete. Yes, you can run it like a desktop computer, but only if you take the time to learn the many nuances to take advantage of its many features.
But after freezing and spending only a few hours printing, the PRO-2000 delivered smooth, effortless performance and excellent photo quality. Fine art photographers, especially those working with high definition cameras; professionals who want full control over their portrait and wedding work; and of course service centers who print for others will appreciate what the PRO-2000 has to offer. These functions once understood and implemented, enable the press to operate and produce images that exhibit the unsurpassed clarity, richness, and quality found in large format printers today.
