https //IJ.Start.Canon G6050 – There are two main uses for an all-in-one printer at home: for printing photos and for printing documents. The Canon PIXMA TS6050 takes the latter first and makes it incredibly easy to print from mobile phones and mobile devices, as well as straight from the cloud.
Design and features
Canon has run into several issues redesigning its PIXMA lineup and reducing its desktop footprint. This machine is about 30 percent smaller than its predecessor and its sleek styling helps reduce its impact on any given room.
The top of the all-black box is formed by a single-sheet flatbed scanner lid, with an extendable near-vertical paper feed pulled up from the back of the top surface, to fill up to 20 sheets of photo or plain paper. paper. The main paper feed comes from the cassette which is slid towards the bottom of the front panel and this can take up to 100 sheets of plain paper, although photo blanks cannot be loaded from here.
The main body of the front panel is hinged up and must be used in a horizontal orientation to allow paper to fit into the pull-out output tray.
Five, the single-color ink cartridge clip snaps into place after you lift the scanner part and there is pigmented black ink for printing text on plain paper, as well as dye-based ink to intensify darker colors in photos.
The support software includes Canon Image Garden and Creative Park Premium applications and provides basic support for all printer functions. There is a free app for iOS and Android that is simple and efficient, although an NFC connection is not provided.
Print quality and speed
We had some trouble getting the Canon PIXMA TS6050 to print from its cassette and after some diagnosis traced it to the point that it failed to pick up the paper properly. Shuffling and reloading the paper seems to sort it out, even though it’s a new sheet from the same multipurpose stock we’ve been using for years.
Canon rates the printer at 15ppm in mono color and 10ppm. Our 5 page mono text document yielded 7.5ppm, but this went up to 10.7ppm on the longer 20-page test. The text document and color graphics provide 3.9ppm, so none of our results come close to the claimed speed. Color print speed is quite slow for a machine of this class.
Our 20-sided duplex document returns 3.1 sides per minute, which is also quite sluggish, mostly due to the 15 second lag for ink drying between the front and back of each page. The 15 x 10cm photo was completed in about 50 seconds, which is the only impressive number from this test.
Print quality is quite good, with deep black text on plain paper, clean, well-saturated colors in business graphics and less than normal lightness on color copies. Photo images are sharp and natural, although some details are lost in darker areas.
The ink cartridges are available in normal and high yield versions and use higher capacity consumables giving a page cost of 3.0p for black and 7.4p for color, both of which are not far off from the device’s main competitors.
The design of this machine is more dependent on lifestyle than an enthusiastic market, but there are rivals from all major manufacturers to consider as well. Brother offers the £ 130 MFC-J680DW, for example, with very similar specs, but includes a 20-sheet ADF for copying and multi-page faxing.
Epson provides the £ 120 Expression Premium XP-640, with very similar specs, including twin paper trays, comparable speed, and good cellular connectivity. HP comes with its £ 135 ENVY 7640, which also includes an ADF, higher capacity tray, fax, and an optional low-cost Instant Ink subscription.
Canon’s PIXMA TS6050 is an all-in-one design for use with mobile devices and PCs. Although our review sample had isolated paper feed issues, it is generally easy to use and neat on the table or table. It’s not the fastest or cheapest all-in-one to run, in a very crowded part of the market.
