Canon Pixma MG3200 Driver Software DownloadCanon’s PIXMA MG3200 printers are located slightly above the beginner level and directly replace PIXMA MG3150. It bears much in common with the previous, all-in-one house, with the clearest difference being that this one has a textured black side, a rear and front panel, where the previous model is high-gloss.

Elsewhere, a simple and A4 flatbed scanner is to the right of the high and thin control Panel, with many buttons and indicators to control the engine, but only one seven-segment LED display.

It’s good to choose the number of copies, but not much is good for status feedback. Canon has tried using it in a variety of ways, but the error code it generates requires a constant reference to the manual for interpreting. A Single-Line, mono LCD will be much better.

The front cover is open to uncover what Canon has referred to as the ‘ fast Front ‘. Quite what is fast about it is not obvious, but two, folding trays work among them to feed and collect paper as a printing machine. When folded down, they almost doubled in depth.

There are no front-panel memory card slots or USB sockets, although printers support USB and wireless connections. If you intend to print from your phone or tablet, wireless is a clear way to go.

The twin ink cartridges slide into two holders behind the internal cover, once you fold ahead quickly. One is black and the other is Tri-color. This makes the printer easy for the service, but it could make it a bit more expensive to run.

The software bundle has been updated, with handy applets such as upside-L shaped ‘ Quick Menu ‘, and a small panel that’s ‘ Image display ‘. There’s also ‘ My Image Garden ‘, to sort photos and ‘ Creative Park Premium ‘ to download photos and illustrations from professional artists – a feature that’s only available to genuine Canon ink users.

One of the things you need to do with the Canon PIXMA MG3250, like most printers, is to align the printhead. If you do this from a Windows printer property, the printed alignment sheet differs from one of the ones displayed in the manual-so there are no instructions on how to use it.

The Canon PIXMA MG3200 is rated at the same speed of 9.2 ppm for black and 5.0 ppm for color as MG3150, but in testing, it is not as fast as specifications or previous machinery. On 5 test pages, it gave 7.0 ppm, against 7.1 ppm. OK, not a big difference, but the test mode draft returned 6.5 PPM, to the previous machine 8.1 ppm. We repeated the test draft mode because it is not unusual to see lower results than in normal mode, but it came through the same.

The 20-page test is faster on both machines, although again MG3200 gives 6.6 ppm to MG3150’s 7.5 ppm. 5-page Black graphic test results and color charts are 1.65 ppm and 1.75 ppm, respectively. Both machines paused for about 12S halfway through each printed page, perhaps for ink drying, so that the speed quoted should be for one printed page.

When it comes to duplex, both machines produce a very slow side of 1.9 per minute, but copying the page color sees the new machine beating the old one, finishing in 31s instead of 45s. Photos of 15 x 10cm take between 56s and 1:39, with a shorter time coming, surprisingly, via the Android link of the Samsung Galaxy Mini.

The print quality for single-sided black text is very clean and solid black, but in duplex mode, much paler, it looks as if it is a composite of Cyan, Magenta and yellow ink-based colorants or a print draft mode.

Bright and clean colored graphics and black text over the colors are quite sharp. A reproducing copy of the original color carefully and the photo prints are balanced and natural.

Canon’s ink prices have dropped a bit recently and used XL ink, not the usual results, giving the page cost 3.7 p for black and 7.9 p for color. It is fair, though not the best we have ever seen, and can change more expensive if using your atypical colors.

Verdict
While it is still a good value, an all-in-one home printer, the Canon PIXMA MG3200 printer is no better than its predecessor and from our testing, it prints slower. The display is only very good for calculating copies and quick forwards may be quick to set up but gives the printer a great footprint.
